What is a psychiatric evaluation?
A structured, unhurried assessment with a licensed clinician — the foundation every good treatment plan is built on.
A psychiatric evaluation is a thorough clinical assessment: your history, your symptoms, your sleep and daily functioning, the medications you take, and careful questions that rule out look-alike conditions. It's how depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other conditions are properly diagnosed.
At the end you get two things: a diagnosis you understand, and personalized treatment recommendations — which may include therapy, medication management, or integrative support. Nothing is prescribed before a clinician has actually evaluated you.

Who should get evaluated?
Adults
Persistent stress, low mood, anxiety, focus problems, or changes in sleep and energy that aren't getting better on their own.
Teens & children
Emotional, behavioral, or academic struggles — evaluated with age-appropriate care and, when helpful, input from parents and school.
Anyone without answers
If you've never had a proper evaluation — or your last diagnosis never quite fit — a fresh, careful assessment can change everything.

Psychiatric evaluation & medication management FAQs
What is a psychiatric evaluation?
A structured assessment with a licensed clinician covering your history, symptoms, and daily functioning — used to reach an accurate diagnosis and build a treatment plan.
How long does a session last?
Plan for about 45–60 minutes for the initial evaluation. Follow-ups are shorter.
What conditions can be diagnosed?
Depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma, OCD, and other common psychiatric conditions.
How quickly will I get a diagnosis?
Often at the first visit; sometimes your clinician will gather rating scales or records first. You'll always know where things stand and what the next step is.
What happens after the evaluation?
You and your clinician build the plan together — therapy, medication management when clinically appropriate, TMS for treatment-resistant depression, or integrative support.
How does medication management work?
If medication is part of your plan, your prescriber handles selection, dosing, and regular follow-ups — adjusting based on how you actually respond.
Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. Many patients come to us for a fresh evaluation of a diagnosis or a medication plan that never felt right.
Are there non-medication options?
Absolutely: therapy and counseling, TMS, and integrative supports like nutritional and functional psychiatry. Medication is one tool, never the only one.
Do you offer telepsychiatry?
Yes — secure video visits are available to residents anywhere in Texas, with in-person care in Coppell and North Dallas.
