Gain experience beyond the classroom

At CIP, clinical experiences are designed to give students meaningful exposure to real-world mental and behavioral healthcare. Students have the opportunity to observe, learn, and build practical skills while working alongside experienced providers in an outpatient setting.

Collaborative Learning

See how providers and healthcare professionals work together to coordinate care and support patients throughout treatment.

Behavioral Health Experience

Gain exposure to psychiatry, mental health assessments, treatment planning, and patient-centered care.

Real-World Practice

Build familiarity with outpatient clinical operations, patient education, professional communication, and the day-to-day responsibilities of a healthcare setting.

Clinical experiences and responsibilities may vary based on the student's program requirements, level of training, provider availability, and current clinic capacity.

PMHNP, FNP, and other applicable advanced-practice students seeking required clinical hours.

PA Students

Students interested in gaining experience within an outpatient psychiatric and behavioral health setting.

Students seeking additional exposure to psychiatry, mental health, and integrative approaches to patient care.

Other Healthcare Students

Students from other applicable healthcare or behavioral health programs are welcome to submit an application for consideration.

Internships

Graduate students interested in gaining professional experience in areas such as healthcare administration, marketing, operations, community outreach, patient services, or other applicable areas within the practice.

    Complete compliance paperwork, EHR access, and an orientation visit.

  4. Begin Rotation

    Start your scheduled hours with regular check-ins with your preceptor.

We follow up within 1–2 weeks of receiving your application to confirm next steps. Applications are reviewed in the order they arrive, and busier semesters can take a little longer.

No. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement. Each request is reviewed based on your program requirements, requested dates, clinical needs, and provider availability.

Our student coordinator contacts applicants directly. Please don't call or email the front desk about a placement — they support patients and can't check the status of an application.

We consider students from accredited healthcare and behavioral health programs. If your school requires a signed affiliation agreement with the clinical site, upload it with your application so we can review it early.

Accepted students complete compliance paperwork, a background check, proof of immunization and liability coverage, EHR access, and an orientation visit before the first scheduled day.

Some hours may be completed virtually depending on your program's requirements and preceptor availability. Tell us in the application how many virtual and in-person hours you need, and we'll work out what's realistic.

No. Clinical placements and internships are unpaid educational experiences completed for academic credit or program hours.
